Original file(960 × 720 pixels, file size: 77 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

FORS spectra for dayflower and indigo, blue colorants found in Japanese woodblock prints.

Non-destructive FORS spectroscopy can easily distinguish these two blue colorants even when mixed or overprinted with yellow or red to form greens and purples.

The MFA uses an Ocean Optics miniature spectrometer with a fiber optic probe.
