A blue on white glazed pottery first made in Delft, Holland in the early 17th century. Delftware is a variation of tin-glazed [[faience]] where the opaque, tin-based white glazes were applied first, then blue copper oxide decoration was added. The delftware patterns were painted onto all types of pottery including plates, ornaments, and tiles.
