Architectural Conservation Laboratory, University of Pennsylvania

"Since 1990 the Architectural Conservation Laboratory (ACL) of the Graduate Program in Historic Preservation has been an integral teaching and research center within the Graduate School of Fine Arts dedicated to training architectural conservators and promoting the preservation of the built environment. As a specialized technical facility serving the full spectrum of conservation activities focused on historic buildings, monuments, and sites, the laboratory supports academic classes, theses, independent study, and advanced research for sponsored conservation projects. The facility consists of dedicated laboratories for the examination, analysis, and performance evaluation of a broad range of architectural materials and their treatment. Advanced instrumental analysis and structural investigations are performed in conjunction with other University facilities including the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter."
