Apoxie 2-part resins
Description
[Aves Studio LLC] A two-part epoxy putty that can be used fabricate and rebuild parts. Apoxie putties are based on a 50:50 mix ratio of an epoxy resin base (part A) and an amine catalyst/hardener (Part B). The uncured Apoxie putties have a smooth, moldable consistency and all provide very strong adhesion to any type of substrate. Once the two-parts are completely mixed, there is about 1-3 hours working time for shaping the putty. The mixed product cures in 24 hours at room temperature without the need for an oven or UV light and can even cure under water. After curing, Apoxie has a rock hard, waterproof finish that can be sanded, drilled or machined without chipping, cracking or flaking. It accepts all types of paint.
There are four types of Apoxie 2-part putties and pastes. All on based on the following materials:
Part A (Resin Component):
- Base Resin: Bisphenol-A/Epichlorohydrin epoxy resin
- Fillers: Talc (magnesium silicate hydrate) and blended silicates
Part B (Hardener Component):
- Curing Agent: Triethylenetetramine (TETA) or a structurally similar aliphatic polyamine catalyst that triggers exothermic cross-linking when mixed
- Modifying Agents: A blend of process oils to keep the hardener pliable and control the tackiness
- Fillers: The same kaolin and talc silicate base found in Part A to guarantee even dispensing and uniform density
The slight variabilities in the four types of Apoxie putties are:
