Bemberg

Description

[Bemberg, Italy] A trademark for a fiber composed of Cuprammonium rayon. Bemberg was first manufactured in the late 19th century by J.P. Bemberg, a German rayon producer and exporter. Cupro rayon uses cotton linters mixed with ammonium and copper before being dropped into caustic soda. Finally, it is extruded through a spinneret as a filament. This produces round fibers of uniform thickness that have of similar feel and texture of silk.
