Botallackite crystals found at Botallack mine in Cornwall England

Description

A secondary copper mineral first described at the Botallack mine in Cornwall England. Botallackite has a turquoise color and is composed of Cu2Cl(OH)3 It has a small monoclinic crystal system that is form on copper as a weathering process or with the exposure to salt water or pollutants. It has been found as a light blue-green patina on Egyptian archaeological bronzes (Scott 1990)
