Cane (grass)
Description
Any of the tall, perennial grasses with flexible, woody stalks from the genera Arundinaria and Arundo found in the temperate regions around the world. Cane grasses are fast-growing with hollow core stalks and long leaves. The stalks are widely used for many diverse applications including woodwind reeds and flutes, walking sticks, woven baskets and chair seats, trellises, fencing, fishing poles, arrows, furniture, boats, roofs as well as paper and cardboard. Yellow and green dyes on wool have also been made.
