Description
A synthetic yellow orange azo dye. Chrysoidine resorcinol has been used for textile dyeing (wool, silk, cotton, and nylon) as well as dyeing leather, biological dyeing, and as a pH indicator. It was formerly used as a food additive, but was banned as a food additive in Europe (1977) and US (1988). Chrysoine resorcinol can be used as a pH indicator with a color change between pH 11 and pH 12.7. In colorimetry, it has an absorption maximum of 387 nm.
