Fibrous wrapped insulation

Description

Electrical insulation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries made from a varnished cellulosic cloth or paper. The paper or fabric was impregnated with gums, oils, varnishes and asphalt to increase its water resistance, resistivity and heat capacity.
