Description

A small, dark weasel-like animal (Marten pennanti) native to North America. Fishers, or fish martens, were named because of their tendency to steal fish bait from traps without being caught. The dark, shiny fur from fishers has been used for coats, trim, and brush fibers.

Guard hair is coarse, dark brown, and shiny. Length is up to 2 inches.
