Description
[Solutia, formerly UCB-Group] A registered trademark for a series of polyvinyl acetate polymers. The colorless resins are available as solids or aqueous emulsions. Gelva® resins are used as adhesives, binders, chewing gum bases, coatings, hot melt adhesives, paints, paper coatings, textile sizes and thickeners.
"As of 2003, Solutia Inc. announced that it closed the sale of its resins, additives and adhesives businesses to UCB S.A. ... Solutia will continue to manufacture R Gelva(R) adhesives at the Indian Orchard facility" (ChemEurope 2003)
Physical and Chemical Properties
Soluble in lacquer solvents and aromatic hydrocarbons. Insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons.
