International Organization for Standardization

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide, non-governmental federation that promotes and develops manufacturing and performance standards. The ISO, established in 1947, consists of 1 person from each of the 140 participating countries. The purpose of the ISO is to facilitate the exchange of goods and services. The ISO standards are published technical specifications that ensure consist product formats.
