Yellow crystals or powder with a strong odor that has historically been used as a Disinfectant.

Decomposes when mixed with mercuric oxide, Calomel, Silver nitrate, and tannins.

Soluble in benzene, acetone. Slightly soluble in alcohol, glycerol, chloroform, carbon disulfide and ether. Insoluble in water.
