Mastic varnish

Description

A varnish made from Mastic resin dissolved in turpentine. It was a popular clear, glossy varnish for oil paintings in the 19th century. However, because of it tends to bloom in moist environments and crack with age, it has mostly been displaced by Dammar varnishes.
