Mixtion

Description

[Le Franc & Co.] A brand name for a commercial oil/copal varnish used as a gold size. The oil/resin mixture is used to seal and harden the ground prior to the application of gold leaf. Mixtion is available in various grades classified by drying time, where the drying time is specified as the point at which the varnish is no longer tacky. For the normal grade of Mixtion, the drying time is 12 hours.
