| Uemura's notes | Onko () is also called Kiyaragi () or Yamasuoh (), and is a variant of Japanese Yew, called Ichii () and Araragi (). The resultant color of Ichii would be same. The plant looks similar to Brazilwood, which is probably the reason why the plant is alternatively called Yamasuoh (= mountain-Brazilwood). The Ainu () people used this plant for dyeing reds. |
