Description
A dark brown compound prepared by the reduction of Prussian blue. Heating of iron blue to form Prussian brown was first described in 1839 by J.F.L. Merimee. It is lightfast and was occasionally used as a pigment in the 19th century. Prussian brown is also used as a drier for cooked oil varnishes.
