Description
[QuakeShield] A patented, lightweight carbon-composite structural reinforcement system designed by a Dutch company to retrofit and protect masonry and brick walls against earthquake damage. QuakeShield adheres high-strength carbon composite strips in small grooves in masonry or brickwork with tough elastic adhesives. This process is followed by applying a layer of carbon mesh and fiberglass-reinforced mortar over the surface. The final step is an additional layer of cement mortar. The integrated system provides the structure with cohesion and stability.
