Description
A grassy plant of the genus Juncus that are found in temperate regions and particularly in moist or shady locations. The cylindrical, unjointed rush stems (or culms) tend to grow straight and to be tufted in habit. They are hollow or pithy and always round in cross section. Rush stems have been used since early times to make baskets, mats and chair seats.
