Satin white

Description

1) An old unstandardized term that has been used for Gypsum.

2) More recently, the term satin white has been used for a bulky, opaque, white paper filling material. This filler, also called calcium sulfoaluminate, is made by the reaction of Aluminum sulfate, Hydrated lime and potash alum.

  • Particle size = about 1.5 x 0.15 (elongated crystals)
  • Refractive Index = 1.46
