Siloxane

Description

A class of organosilicone compounds with a structural unit of R2SiO, where R is an alkyl group. Polymers made from siloxane chains are called silicones. An example is polymethyl siloxane (methyl silicone) resin. See resin silicone resin.

Physical and Chemical Properties

Soluble in chloroform, heptane, benzene, diethyl ether.Insoluble in methanol, ethanol.
