Transfer printing

Description

A printing technique to decorate ceramics with a reusable pattern. First developed in England at the Buttersea Enamel Works (1753-1756), transfer printing uses an etched copperplate. The plate is inked and the pattern transfered to a paper. While the ink is still wet, the pattern is pressed onto the glazed ceramic surface.
