KNurmi is the username for Kaela Nurmi (she/her), a graduate fellow in the Patricia H. & Richard E. Garman Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State College, Class of 2022.
Pre-program Experience
Kaela Nurmi has held a variety of positions at institutions around the country, including Page Conservation (Washington, DC based private practice paintings conservation studio), The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Museum of History and Industry (Seattle, WA), and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
Education
Kaela will receive her masters in Art Conservation in 2022 from the Patricia H. & Richard E. Garman Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State College. She earned her B.A. in Art Conservation from Scripps College in Claremont, CA.
Special Interests
Kaela's special interests include the conservation of objects and paintings, with a focus on modern and contemporary materials. She is interested in the collaboration with living artists, material mock-ups and replications, visitor interaction with artworks, and preventive conservation.
