Description
An unstandardized name that has been used for the following colorants:
- Malachite Green dye
- Lead chromate/Prussian blue (chrome green)
- Zinc yellow/Prussian blue
- Zinc chrome green/hydrated chrome oxide
- Viridian/zinc yellow.
The name Victoria Green is also a name for a ceramic color that is chemically the same as vernalis.
Victoria green garnet is also one of the names given to the synthetic form of the mineral uvarovite. It is made by calcinating a mixture of calcium oxide, chromium oxide and silicon oxides in varied ratios to form a crystalline garnet matrix. It may include Al2O3, B2O3, CaF2, CoO, PbO or ZrO2 as modifiers. The synthetic form is given the Colour Index number of Pigment Green 51.
