Description

An industrial solvent produced by the steam distillation of ground up pine logs and stumps. Wood turpentine has a strong odor. It primarily contains pinene along with diipentene, limonene and terpinene. Wood turpentine is commercially used as a solvent paint solvent and thinner as well as a raw material in the production of synthetic resins, insecticides, oil additives, pine oil and camphor. Wood turpentine is not sold for artists use since it is not as pure as gum spirits of turpentine and may contain oily residues.
