Description
Originally used to refer to the yellow coloring material in Madder. Now, the term xanthin generally refers to the insoluble color in yellow flowers, while xanthein refers to the water soluble colorant in yellow flowers. Xanthin is can be extracted from sunflowers with a hot alcohol solution.
