Description

An adhesive composed of a synthetic resin or elastomer. Synthetic resins used as adhesives provide a wider range of properties than natural based adhesives. Examples of synthetic adhesives are:

1) Thermoplastic resins - Cellulose nitrate, Polyvinyl acetate, Ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, polyamides, polyesters, acrylics, and cyanoacrylics.

2) Thermoset resins - phenol formaldehyde, urea formaldehyde, unsaturated polyesters, epoxies, and polyurethanes.

3) Elastomers - natural rubber, Butyl rubber, Polybutadiene, Styrene-butadiene rubber, Nitrile rubber, silicone, and Neoprene.
