Artificial chamois

Description

A soft, chamois-like cloth made from sheepskin tanned with Formaldehyde or Alum (Brady 1971). Artificial chamois is filled with oil and mechanically sueded to produce the suppleness of real chamois. They are washable and will dry soft. Currently synthetic chamois are being made from Polyvinyl alcohol sheets laminated on each side of a nylon mesh. They are lintless and solvent resistant.
