Basketry

Description

Plant parts, such as wood strips, bark, roots, twigs, stems, vines and leaves, have been used to make baskets since at least 8000 BCE (Mowat 1996). Types of materials used in baskets include osier (Willow), split ash, hazel shoots, Straw, Flax, Sedge, ferns, Grass, reeds, rushes, Bamboo, Yucca, cane, [raffia|raffia]], and palm leaves.
