Description
[I.G.Farbenindustrie] A brand name for a series of organic red pigments made from coal-tar lakes. Helio fast red has a brilliant cherry red tone and was used in Watercolor, Tempera, and indoor Fresco paintings. Helio reds have fair lightfastness, but are not used in oil paints because of bleeding. They have been replaced with more durable colors.
