Description

The commercial name for an insecticide and wood preservative composed of copper acetoarsenite. First manufactured in 1814 as a vibrant green pigment, Paris green was used by many 19th painters. However, the compound is highly toxic and the color can degrade rapidly. As a paint colorant, copper acetoarsenite is better known as emerald green.
