Description
A substance added to paints and varnishes to reduce Gloss in the dried film. A flatting agent typically has small, irregular shaped particles that disperse incident light rays in many different directions, thus producing a Matte appearance. Examples of flatting agents are Beeswax, Fumed silica, Diatomaceous earth, and heavy metal soaps.
